Foundational Ideas of Unity

I wanted to start discussion on what our basis of unity could be?

I would like everyone to post any basic statements from groups they are in that do Indigenous solidarity and also what they think/feel a group of settlers should be organizing from.

There are two foundational principles I would ideally like to see:

1. "we recognize we are on and benefit from the continued occupation of Indigenous lands, and continued colonial relationship with Indigenous peoples and Nations"

2. "We support a diversity of tactics and strategies in aspiring to be allies to Indigenous struggles"

what are people's thoughts, concerns, feelings, impulses, gut reaction?

London Coalition in Solidarity with Indigenous Peoples: Anti-Racism
Education & Action

We are a coalition of people from Indigenous and non-Indigenous
communities in the London and South Western Ontario region.

Our goal is to create solidarity between non-Indigenous Canadians and
Indigenous peoples through public education and social action which
addresses the historical and present day injustices faced by Indigenous
peoples.

We promote public education and activism which:

Supports the Human Rights of Indigenous peoples (locally & globally)
Supports Indigenous peoples land rights, sovereignty, and self-determination
Raises awareness about past and present racist / sexualized violence
against Indigenous peoples (including Indian Residential Schools,
Genocide, Murdered women.)
Demands an end to poverty, dislocation, and everyday racism imposed on
Indigenous peoples

Holds the Canadian Government / people to their treaty obligations
Fosters responsibility for social change among non-Indigenous Canadians

Our education and action initiatives include: public speaker events and
documentary film nights; fund raising for various struggles; letter
writing campaigns, media commentaries; work shops for community based and
public education settings, public demonstrations, community celebration
events, and more….

Our coalition gatherings are guided by Indigenous peoples’ traditional
values of peaceful action and consensus building.

Please join us!
